TO DO's

Surfing

Tamarindo is perfect for surfing, especially for beginners and intermediates. With gentle waves and plenty of surf schools, it’s easy to take a lesson or rent a board (around $10–$20 USD per day) and get out on the water.

Tamarindo Beach

The town’s main beach is ideal for relaxing, swimming, sunbathing, or simply taking a long walk along the shore. Sunset here is a must—bring a drink, sit in the sand, and watch the sky light up in brilliant colors.

Catalina Islands

Located about an hour by boat from Tamarindo, the Catalina Islands are a top spot for scuba diving. You can spot manta rays, white-tip reef sharks, turtles, and schools of tropical fish. Ideal for certified divers and also great for advanced snorkeling tours.

Tamarindo Estuary & Las Baulas National Park

A short paddle from Tamarindo, the estuary tour through Las Baulas National Park offers a peaceful way to spot monkeys, crocodiles, and exotic birds. Great for nature lovers, with kayak or boat options ideal for all levels.

Iguana Island (Isla de los Congos)

Closer to shore, Iguana Island offers great snorkeling in calm, shallow waters. It’s perfect for beginners or those wanting a relaxing half-day excursion with plenty of marine life and coral formations. Tours range from $40 to $120 USD per person, depending on the destination and inclusions.

Sailing Tour

A sunset sailing tour is one of the top experiences in Tamarindo. Cruise along the Pacific coast while enjoying snacks, drinks, and the chance to spot dolphins or sea turtles. Prices range from $60 to $120 USD per person.

Party at Sharky's

Tamarindo comes alive after dark. From chill beach bars to energetic nightclubs, there’s something for everyone. Popular spots include Sharky’s, known for sports and live music, and El Be! Tamarindo, a beachfront bar with great cocktails and dancing. Weekends are especially lively, perfect for late-night fun.

Crazy Monkey Bar

Crazy Monkey Bar is a Tamarindo nightlife classic, perched on a hill with ocean views and multiple dance floors. Known for its Friday night parties with live salsa and DJs, it draws a fun mix of locals and travelers. It’s a top choice for backpackers looking to dance under the stars.
